Is it possible…

that I have a freaking cold in the middle of Summer? I made it through my first winter since childhood, working outdoors at a local nursery and never got sick. Now Leslie and Cadence are on their way back from vacation and I’m wiped out with a runny nose, cough & congestion in July!!!!

Things I needed today

This scripture: Galatians 2:19-20 (The Message):

What actually took place is this: I tried keeping rules and working my head off to please God, and it didn’t work. So I quit being a “law man” so that I could be God’s man. Christ’s life showed me how, and enabled me to do it. I identified myself completely with him. Indeed, I have been crucified with Christ. My ego is no longer central. It is no longer important that I appear righteous before you or have your good opinion, and I am no longer driven to impress God. Christ lives in me. The life you see me living is not “mine,” but it is lived by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. I am not going to go back on that.

Thanks Jay for your dialogue on it and bringing to my attention today. much needed

This post:

As believers, it’s tempting to interpret failure as a sign from God that it’s time to stop. By all means, do take those seasons to pray for guidance. But remember, too, that failure is actually a foundation of our faith. We all fall short of the glory of God, and that’s why we need Jesus. So as the Church, we shouldn’t just accept failure, we should embrace it as an undeniable part of who we are. That knowledge gives us freedom to attempt the impossible, to risk the unthinkable, and to accomplish the incredible things that God wants to do through us.

Thanks Bobby and LifeChurch.tv for this series of post! Love these words: immpossible, risk, incredible, failure.

I needed refreshing on this as well. Hope its helpful to some of you! It got me through the day and evening. FYI: currently listening to Chasen, again. These guys rock!

  • This post is awesome! I love that LifeChurch.tv is able to track this. If you haven’t checked out youversion.com do it now! If you can, download it for your mobile device.
  • I’m so pumped that NewSpring has launched in Greenville, SC. I spent the majority of my life in Greenville. There are some really good churches; and there are a lot of people not going to to any of them. NewSpring’s kingdom mindset is contagious and their peeps go all out to make people feel welcomed. Glad to read this from Perry.
  • Glad to see this man blogging again….and reading blogs again!
  • Saw a sign for this store coming soon to Ross Park Mall. Right now all it says is “true religion coming soon” I think that is the hope of a lot of people, especially here in the burgh searching for something else. At Iron City we say, “More Jesus, Less Crap” and Jesus said this.
  • Had a date night with this girl tonight….she rocks my world!

Your Invited!

A friend was telling me today about his mission trip and working amoungst the homeless. An awesome thing occured by the end of the week. He and his youth were invited by one the homeless ladies to come to their neighborhood where they sleep each night. Further, she invited them to their church service under the bridge. When they showed, over 400 homeless men and women had gathered to worship God under the bridge. WOW.

The thing that stuck out the most to me was how this group was invited into the lives of someone completly different then them. Huge barriers were crossed for this to happen. I wonder if I am willing to invite others into my life in this manner, to join me where I am, with all my baggage and mess. I wonder if I’m willing to become transparent, authentic, and just me. I wonder who will come into my life and who will leave when I get to this point. Your Invited…want to come?
