The Road Not Taken (part 2)

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.         15

For some the journey of life has offered up it’s roads and paths accompanied by road signs and markers…oh I longed for that journey! From those prophetic words in Chicago to church planting school in Atlanta, to currently living in Pittsburgh: we did not receive many road signs, but our journey has not been without direction.

Knowing we were to continue ministering with our lives to those who are disconnected from God we began a period of prayer and contemplation on the paths before us. One path offered me the opportunity to continue working with a Fortune 500 company, already having received 2 job advancement opportunities within my first year. My salary would have doubled, Leslie wouldn’t have had to work, and the mission field among college students in Atlanta was in need We would have partnered with a Church Plant within Metro-Atlanta. Another path offered the opportunity to plant our own church with me as a lead pastor. We looked into areas near Atlanta, the NE portions of GA, parts of SC, and other larger cities. A third path had us leaving our jobs, our apartment, family and some friends and relocating to a new city to come alongside a church plant that would launch in Sept. 07. And oh the other paths, many we could dismiss fairly easily; some took some traveling and discussions; few left lingering thoughts and nights of unrest like the main three listed above. Here we stood along our journey seeking wisdom for our next path.
