The Road Not Taken (part 3)

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

Advice came from all over! Everywhere we turned someone was offering their perspective on our journey. Leslie and I tried to listen as best we could, but our heart kept beating to a different drum then most. The words “you’re only 1 paycheck away from being homeless” were about to be put to the test. Knowing our next step on this journey would be to move to Pittsburgh we traded our apartment (1400sq ft) for our travel camper (128sq ft), moved our stuff into storage, moved the dogs and us to a state park. Leslie worked as a campground host and I commuted into Atlanta for the rest of the summer. Tried to save up some money and clear other debts….and moved to Pittsburgh in September. No jobs, not much money, somewhat of a house (that’s a whole other story!!) but following a life’s calling and mission, and a vision to see Pittsburgh transformed with the love of Christ.

Since the decision to come, we still get…”you did what?” and “why would you ever…?” type of questions. Mostly relate to the financial insecurity our decisions may lead us to. But listen closely…Following God brings greater rewards, a greater life, and greater security than any job offer, direction, or location can provide. While it’s been hard…at times really hard…God keeps stepping up in huge ways. Leslie and I took the path less traveled by….and so far…that has made all the difference.
