Cadence Has Arrived

Posted in Journey to Fatherhood with tags , , , , on April 30, 2008 by themousas

Wow!!! What a journey it’s been, and it’s just begun. Interesting aspect of life. Cadence came into the Mousa household at 1:51am Tuesday, after a long 19hours of labor. Mom is a rockstar! Cadenced weighed in at 6lbs 6oz and 19 1/2in long. The entire process was a blessing from God…I’ll post more about it later on, but right now all you want is the pictures.

Thanks for all the prayer! Make sure to check Cadence’s blog as well for a link to a growing photo album!

Church & Starbucks

I came across this article this morning and well….it’s definitely worth your read. Sean does a great job of showing the culture that many churches Christians have set up for themselves. My favorite line: “it’s about more than you. It’s about the family as a whole. Even past that, the church is about Jesus, it’s not about us.” Check it out here, if you have any thoughts on it as well, post a comment and let me know. Let’s not be regulars any more!

Sunday @ ICC

Posted in Church Planting, Iron City Church, Religion with tags , , on April 20, 2008 by themousas
  • let’s start with God answers prayers! BIG TIME!
  • threw a curve ball to the production team this morning, they eventually hit it but I caused the band to miss most of their warm-up….sorry guys and a lot of frustration to our team…sorry for that as well
  • curve ball was a new mixer and amp, but not all the right cables. it really cleaned up the sound and made it much clearer, but still not the best Sunday to do it, lesson learned.
  • portable baptisms are awesome, especially when the heating element breaks down.
  • our guys loaded about 6 industrial sized trash cans of hot water, still no help….glad Tommy was the one in the water
  • saw 4 people baptized and another week of people deciding to begin a relationship with Christ. WOW!!!
  • the spiritual warfare i mentioned here has trickled down to our support staff. some of our peeps are really fighting through some crap right now, pray for them!
  • finished the Release series and today’s service by signing I am Free by the Newsboys, great song to close things out.
  • realized last night around midnight, what I thought was canopies to use to keep the rain off was actually pack-n-plays for a children’s area…..I freaked out!
  • Prayed a lot last night for it not to rain during the service
  • Rain stopped about time people began coming in! God likes to test me a little.
  • Have an awesome wife whose taking me out tonight!
  • Did I mention that this time next week I’ll be holding my little girl!
  • Tommy actually only preached for 15 or so minuetes. Everyone was in shock, and not because of the ice cold baptism water.
  • Have a busy week ahead, a lot to do before becoming a dad, but looking foward to it all.

Shine Through the Stars

Posted in General Blogging, Religion with tags , , , , on April 19, 2008 by themousas

ShineOver the years my wife and I have been privileged to know a lot of musicians trying to break into the industry. It seemed that everywhere we moved we would become sounding boards for several bands and individuals across multiple genres. Today I want to give some props to a great friend and fellow future father Chase Callahan and Chasen and the release of their debut CD Shine Through the Stars. You can pick up your copy at any Best Buy, Circuit City, or on iTunes. He’ll be at the Dove Awards this week. Some of his songs are already on the top list. Jared Johnson, All Music Guide had this to say “hands-down the best indie album of 2008 and one of the best Christian albums in recent memory.” Great music from some great guys! Congrats Chase!….now all of you reading this go buy his CD or download it…NOW!

She’s coming!

Found out today that Cadence hasn’t quiet caught up with the growing curve she’s suppose to be on. She’s been small for a while but continued along her path. Today, we found out she’ll be joining us sooner than expected. The want to induce sometime next weekend! Wow…i’ll be a father in about 10 days. Any last minute advice is much appreciated!

It’s begun!

my journey to get in shape started tonight with our first soccer game. we lost, pretty badly. and wow, about 10 minuetes in I already had a side stitch. It’s a start and I enjoyed playing again. It’s been at least 6 years since I played on an organized team. I did make it the entire 60 minuetes without a substitute so that was either an accomplishment or why we lost so bad, i was exhausted. Next game…Monday night

Reality TV’d Out

Posted in General Blogging with tags on April 16, 2008 by themousas

tonight we crashed and watch a lot of reality tv, not sure what got into us. We watch Idol…and no shout to the lord this week. and then flipped between Hell’s Kitchen and Deadliest Catch; and then Ace of Cakes and Deadliest catch, and then something on HGTV; and then….and then…..and then….

well nothing spiritual about it, just a night of some tv time with my wifey. it helps to watch others lives i guess instead of looking at all your own bills and problems.
